Ok, at this point we are running low on a number of things: money (actually we are out), enthusiasm for this challenge, and food. We have eaten all the granola, all the grape nuts, all the fruit, almost all the yogurt, and are feeling a little poor when we look in the pantry. While I appreciate the exercise and all that we will learn / have learned from it, I will be very happy to get back to a slightly more nutritious version of our “normal” eating. Brett commented to me yesterday that what he has learned from all this was that we already ate pretty healthy foods, most of them "real." I agree. And the limits of this challenge are getting old around here!
Nonetheless, dinner was really great tonight. It's actually something we eat pretty regularly and it happens to be a real foods qualifying meal. We had grits (that's whole food right??) with butter and parmesean melted in, topped with sauteed farmers market sausage, red and yellow peppers and onions. Yum! (It was really pretty, but I forgot to take a picture of it.) The kids don't really like meat or peppers, so they had the grits with whole wheat toast and a fried farmers market egg and apples. No smoothies tonight. Just right to bed! I think everyone is tired from a long, but great week.
Two more days!

I must say, I'm ready to get back to our normal eating. We eat pretty healthy, IMO, compared to most typical Americans. Not being able to use garlic chili sauce to spice up my food because it contains a little sugar is a bit over the top. I'm ok with not eating the extra sugary junk, but we typically don't have junk in the house to begin with. No soda or tea, at all!! I have coffee in the morning with a little organic cream, then water at every meal. I would love a little ice cream right about now though!! :-)
Y guys need to learn Korean food cooking, & french also main American diet is not too bad, portion control, & lack of exercise, we do not walk like European or Korean bc no good public transportation so our burning calorie is less than other country. Tx god my job, I walk all nt, running around taking care of pt also I do not eat sweet Tx to my mom, cooked real foods, same with Michael, he does not eat sweet & loves Korean foods & he is very conscious about nutrition so do not deprived & eat good foods, good thing y do not work now so y got time to plan cooking but working & raising 2 kids, it is very difficult but I really am happy y are doing for this your family. Mom's position is very impotant for family. I am so glad I have the best mom & she thougt me good eating habit. Good job. Love aunt suk
